The traditional objective of a census is the
provision of baseline information for
development planning and policy-making.
However, under the CPA mandate, the census
results will also be used for political
purposes as well. It must be emphasized
that the census must be credible, objective
and acceptable to all stakeholders in the
country. UNFPA would do its best to ensure
such an outcome.
