Crisis in Sudan

The outbreak of conflict in April 2023 has left Sudan’s security situation extremely volatile, resulting in mass displacement and escalating humanitarian needs. According to the Humanitarian Response Plan, 24.8 million people urgently require assistance, with more than 10.9 million internally displaced. Sudan faces multiple crises, including famine, disease outbreaks, and severe flooding, all of which have further strained basic services and exacerbated the critical situation. Women and girls are particularly affected. In response, UNFPA is prioritizing reproductive health, strengthening gender-based violence interventions, and providing essential support to protect vulnerable populations.
