Conflict and Displacement in Aj Jazirah

Recent clashes in Aj Jazirah have displaced 250,000–300,000 people, with around 60,000 women and girls of reproductive age, including nearly 6,000 pregnant women, in need of urgent support. Many have fled to nearby states like Gedaref, Sennar, and White Nile, with some heading to Kassala and Blue Nile or crossing into South Sudan. UNFPA is ensuring continued health and protection services, including clinical management of rape and psychosocial support.

UNFPA's Response

UNFPA has deployed mobile clinics and mapped services to provide life-saving health care and protection, including GBV services. In Gedaref and Sennar, mobile clinics are active, and health facilities are receiving support. UNFPA has also distributed over 1.1 million units of Oxytocin and 163,900 packs of Misoprostol, while ongoing renovations and solar power installations ensure critical services continue.

Health and GBV Interventions

Mobile clinics have provided over 30,000 consultations. UNFPA continues to adapt to the cholera outbreak by training midwives and adjusting services in affected areas. The organization also supports community-based protection, providing dignity kits and essential services to displaced women and girls.
